On January 10, 2009, they will have completed a decade of service to the children & adults living in and around the National Capital Region, as well as the Provinces of Zambales, Pampanga, and Bataan. They are “called” to evangelize & disciple children & young people. The lives God places under the authority of their ministry are being established on the Foundation of God’s Word and the Christian Worldview. The Lord is saving souls and equipping them to serve. The Master is molding a new generation of world influencing Christians through the efforts of the Cooks. Tom & Nancy have taught children, youth, and adults from the slums in Metro Manila to isolated mountain villages near Mt Pinatubo. They have assisted local Christians in starting preschools & kindergartens, both in Manila’s slums and Aeta relocation centers in Zambales. They have given hope & help to orphans, abandon children, handicapped children, and Christian workers. Through their ministry children, receive scholarships to local Christian schools, school supplies and uniforms. Tom & Nancy provide “Blessing Boxes” to needy families, individuals, and Children’s Homes. The boxes contain food, vitamins, medicine, clothing, and sometimes toys. Early in 2005, Tom & Nancy established Mercy Ministries to provide spiritual training and leadership mentoring for Christians and serious seekers in Olongapo City. Mercy Ministries hosts a small-group worship center for families and individuals. Services at the worship center include Sunday, Wednesday, & Thursday meetings. Bible study, Praise, Prayer, Worship, Impartment, & Equipping are the focus for each age & maturity level. Mercy Ministries also provides a Bible based “preschool” for disadvantage children & children with disabilities. There are currently two of these special children enrolled in the pilot program. Mercy Ministries also provides “Blessing Boxes”, medicines, medical care, and other types of Community Outreach ministries. In May of 2001 the Lord directed Tom & Nancy to take an abused & abandon 2 year-old boy into their family. They fought many spiritual & bureaucratic battles for the boy. Today, their adopted son Christian is a redeemed overcomer, a blessing to Tom & Nancy and many others as well. |
